Great article on Skin-To-Skin care for newborns. I love seeing my clients benefit from it!
Things to consider when deciding to have an older child at the birth. I would add that the child needs to have a safe “out” if it becomes too much and they want to leave. This generally means having someone there who is designated to supervise the older child outside the birth room.
I liked this article on How to Survive a Summer Pregnancy, but it would have been great to have a woman who actually looks pregnant in the illustration!
LOVED this! You’re Not Allowed to Not Allow Me – one of my frustrations with the maternity care system is that so many providers don’t respect that women DO have the legal right to make decisions for themselves. I hate it when doctor say things like “I won’t allow you to go past 41 weeks.” or “I don’t allow my patients to get out of bed.” And don’t even get me started on the doc who always turns to the dad and says “I wouldn’t allow my wife to do this. Are you going to let her?”
Speaking of being confined to bed…a new Lamaze Infographic on movement in labor.
And here is a birth video from Brooke Walsh at Peace-Love-Babies in the Twin Cities, MN
